Good question.
(via @CandiceHull on Twitter.)
I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR MONTHS.
So those westboro people have never gotten a swift ass kicking from any cops or even dragged away from when they protest at a fucking funeral.
Some college kids sit on the fucking sidewalk ON THEIR OWN MOTHERFUCKING CAMPUS and get pepper sprayed and arrested?
This is some fucking bullshit and our entire nation needs to be OUTRAGED.
GET ANGRY, DAMNIT.

I’ve decided to quit this blog. Despite the dozens and dozens of messages I’ve gotten over the past 6 months telling me how much I’ve changed people’s lives for the better, impacted their perspectives and taught them new things, I’ve come to realize that blogging is totally…
Just something to kind of remember.

Around one in the morning they brought out the riot police. At one point, they pushed the crowd out of the park, killed the floodlights, and surrounded us with officers armed with beanbag guns, rubber bullets, tear gas canisters, and nightsticks.
That was one of the scariest moments of my life. Including the time I fell off a cliff. There is nothing to describe the loneliness of sitting in a quiet ring of people waiting to be attacked by those whose jobs are to protect us, attacked for defending our own rights. There are also no words for the sense of camaraderie that builds between you and those with whose arms you are linked. You know you have all made this decision, and there is no turning back.
As we sat there and passed around vinegar to soak our shirts and bandannas with to counteract the effects of tear gas, it occurred to me how strange it was that despite my fear, there was no question in my mind as to whether I wanted to do this.
Hannah ended up with a gas mask, lucky duck.
